Another busy month!

-->
August 2016
On August 1st, Augusta RV started OUR 5th wheel! Of course it’s just the frame but we insisted on a photo of it! It’s OURS!!!
 The start of our new 5th wheel!
I called Dan’s Hitches in Elkhart, Indiana. We had stopped by there when we were going to Augusta RV and talked with them. I made arrangements for them to teach us how to drive the darn thing! We are complete newbies! They of course will give us instructions on how to utilize the hitch, brakes etc. and beyond that, they will arrange for someone to teach us how to back up, turn, etc. Tom called them later to arrange for the hitch to be installed on October 3rd. Great people to work with!!

By late August we had another load ready to take to the storage unit. This load includes: all the large framed paintings we had on the walls and antique mirror, more photos album stuff of ours, Tom’s dad’s desk that he made that is Karis’, some books, a small secretary desk that was my grandfather’s, a few more tubs. Karis flew to KC for Parker’s first birthday and Tom brought her down to Newton to say one last goodbye to her childhood home.

Karis was with us when we took this second load to KC through a horrible storm but made it safe and sound. The storage unit is about ½ full! We have one more load and Tom is going to build a platform above it all, to put the bed on. Ingenious idea!!

 Scary storm as we headed to Kansas City
Also by late August, our new home is making steady progress! Debra sends us weekly photos of how our unit is progressing. Of course we have to call her several times, leave her several messages and really bug her, but she does finally send them! We look forward to them!!

We continue to power wash the outside of the house and the deck. The house is almost completely stained. We just have to rent scaffolding and do the two story part on the West side. Then we have to paint the soffits all around.
We still have so much to do!! Not just with the house but in terms of getting our life style underway. We have to figure out where we will call home or where our domicile will be. At this point we think we will go with South Dakota. Also, we need insurance for both the truck and the 5th wheel and it has to be insurance that will cover us LIVING in it full time. Most insurance won’t cover full time use. And we have to figure out taxes after we sell the house, are living in the 5th wheel but still working in Kansas. And we have to set up a mail forwarding service. Once we quit our jobs, we have to travel to South Dakota and get South Dakota drivers licenses, tags for the truck and 5th wheel etc.
